Smaller 3,000 lb machines run out of reach and power quickly, and full-size excavators are hard to move and overkill for a house lot. The 6-8k class hits the middle: real digging depth, a stable undercarriage and a backfill blade, in a footprint that still fits between houses.
It is the most requested size for good reason, and we keep ours maintained so the hydraulics are strong and the tracks are tight when you pick it up. We can also set you up with the right bucket width for your trench, so you are not digging wider than you need to.
Why Mad Moose
Narrow trenches for pipe and conduit go faster with an 18 in. bucket. Wider footings, drainage swales and general digging are faster with a 24 in. bucket. Tell us what you are digging and we will pair the right bucket with your rental.
